Gear Rental (formerly Outdoor Recreation) offers a wide array of sports and camping equipment including bikes and safety gear, skis and snow equipment, tents and camping gear, fishing rods, boogie boards, and more.

Pick up local hiking brochures or ask about outdoor adventure spots in the Kanagawa area.

We have bikes and safety equipment for a trip around scenic routes, skis and snow gear for winter sports, tents and camping gear for nature immersion, fishing rods and boogie boards for a fun day in the water, and a lot more.

Parties & Special Events

For parties and special events, reserve our pavilions and barbecue pits located at Ranger Park and J-Tag Picnic Area. We also offer air toys and outdoor gaming equipment. Information pamphlets about various outdoor activity destinations around Japan are available in our office located at the main MWR building.

 

 

Gear Rental Policies

• Gear rentals must be made in person. We are unable to take phone reservations as full payments are due at the time of equipment rental. Credit card payments are accepted.

• Customer(s) Responsibility - Customer(s) assume responsibility for all equipment issued and will be charged for all equipment items damaged, lost, or stolen. Family members must be16 years of age to check-out equipment.

• Rental Time Frame -  All rentals are a minimum one day charge. Customer(s) may save money by checking equipment out after 2 p.m. and/or returning it  by 2 p.m. For most rentals, no fee is assessed after 2 p.m. on the issue day. The next day is charged a daily rate. Since Gear Rental is closed on holidays, customers will not be charged for holidays.

• Length of Rental - Equipment  may be issued for  a maximum of two weeks. After two weeks, if the equipment is still required, payment in full must be made and a new contract filled out.

• Late Fee Customer(s) renting equipment will be charged a 5 per day late fee, in addition to the reqular daily rate for each contract that is over four days delinquent.

• Cleaning Fee - Customer(s) will becharged a 10 cleaning fee for each item returned that is not thoroughly clean, dry and suitable for immediate reissue.

• Reservations -All equipment items are on a first-come, first-served basis unless otherwise noted in the price list. Select items may be reserved up to 30 days in advance by filling out a written contract at Gear Rental.

• Refunds - Refund policy for cancellation of reservat ion is based on length of prior notice given. Less than 24 hours notice, customers forfeit 50% of the fee. No prior notice of cancellation, no refund will beissued. Customer(s) must pay for propane gas that is ordered and cannot be returned, regardless of cancellation notice.

• Payment Procedures- Payment is due in full at time of rental. Gear Rental accepts personal checks (made out to MWR FUND 10 111), cash and credit card (American Express,Discover, MasterCard and Visa)
